The Top 33 Metal Songs of All Times
Here’s my list of the top 33 best songs in metal. Why 33? Because Jesus died at 33, and I recently turned 33. I don’t really have a better reason than that… Oh, and the font is small in order to fit everything into each line.

Thanks Joel, I appreciate it. There’s actually a lot of work behind that list, it’s not just a bunch of songs I like that I threw out there in a random order. I carefully considered the impact of each song on its own contemporaries, and its lasting appeal. I tried to weigh each song according to how it was popular at the time, and how its appeal endured over time. But some songs are very popular without having an influence on music over time, and some songs have a huge impact without being widely known. I tried to take that into account as well. Another important criterion for me was to cast a wide net: I wanted the list to be a metal list, not a list from the point of view of a death/black metal guy, or a trash/speed guy, etc.
What would you have done differently?
